Shippensburg

Shippensburg is a borough in Cumberland and Franklin counties in the U.S. Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Settled in 1730, Shippensburg lies in the Cumberland Valley, 41 miles southwest of Harrisburg, and is part of the Harrisburg–Carlisle Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 5,478 at the 2020 census. Scenic Shippensburg is a friendly and attractive college town in Cumberland Valley PA. Walk around the campus of Shippensburg University, attend an art or music performance, or hike and bike the Cumberland Valley Rail Trail. Located on our county’s westernmost border, it is still just a short drive from many metro areas, including Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington, D.C.
